In queste ultime settimane, con la elezione del Sindaco Giordano a Consigliere Regionale, prima, e la sua nomina ad Assessore alle Attività Produttive, poi, si è molto parlato del “modello Novara” come vanto di una novella classe dirigente rampante e come modello da esportare e di cui permeare più complessivamente la vita amministrativa dell’intera Regione.

Ma cosa, in realtà, c’è sotto l’espressione “modello Novara”? E’ la fantomatica “stazione in linea” la soluzione di tutti i problemi? E cosa ne è stato della mirabilante STU (Società di Trasformazione Urbana)? E che fine ha fatto l’altrettanto fantasmagorica “Novara Futura”?. Utilizzando il titolo di un vecchio film si potrebbe dire “Sotto il vestito niente”.

Le cose vere sono altre: Novara e il suo territorio sono stati in questi ultimi 10-15 anni oggetto passivo di pesanti infrastrutturazioni e massicci aumenti di traffici senza grandi ricadute positive, mentre gli effetti negativi sono del tutto evidenti ed interessano la qualità della vita quotidiana dei novaresi.

Non sono emerse, né emergono, scelte urbanistiche che esprimano un disegno complessivo ed unitario in cui armonizzare industrial vocation of the territory with the logistics development, today disruptive and disorderly, and enhance the excellence of the research assets Novara with an important qualification of the university.

In definitiva sono emerse, di volta in volta, scelte che rispondevano a interessi particolari e che venivano decise altrove a prescindere. Sarebbe forse ora di smettere la politica degli spot e degli slogan, dove ognuno cerca di piantare la propria bandierina e risulta impossibile discutere di merito.
