Egregio Assessore Contaldo,
Mi rivolgo a Lei in forma pubblica, affinchè la questione al centro di queste righe diventi patrimonio pubblico e, soprattutto, perché ritengo che le criticità- anche semplici- che Le sottoporrò attengano alle caratteristiche di una città, alle sue priorità e alle conseguenti scelte.
Qualche anno, la Giunta decise di chiudere le due comunità che da diverso tempo accoglievano in via Viglio e in via Monte San Gabriele 17 cittadini novaresi diversamente abili. All’origine di quella scelta, c’erano soprattutto le pessime condizioni in cui si trovava l’edificio di via Monte San Gabriele. Mentre quella di via Viglio poteva, senza enfasi, definirsi un piccolo “fiore all’occhiello”: accogliente, di recente ristrutturazione, ben inserita a Sant’Agabio. Gli operatori erano stati capaci, con un lavoro eccellente, di superare qualche iniziale difficoltà dei vicini ed infatti gli ospiti della comunità erano parte di quel quartiere, che pure vive parecchie contraddizioni.
L’Esecutivo decise di accorpare i due centri e di trasferire gli ospiti a Vespolate, riducendo così anche i costi di gestione. Lei assicurò a noi consiglieri dell’opposizione, e soprattutto alle famiglie, che nulla sarebbe cambiato. Anzi i miglioramenti sarebbero stati evidenti, a partire da uno stabile senza i limiti dei precedenti:nuovo e accogliente. Senza aspettare che il progetto “Città della salute”, in cui sarebbe prevista una struttura per loro, si avvii e si concluda. Per ben che vada ci vorranno almeno cinque/sei anni ancora. Non è accettabile. La Giunta, di cui fa parte, si incensa per le tante rotonde e fontane realizzate negli ultimi nove anni. Riportiamo subito a Novara quei 17 concittadini e avremo tutti di che essere fieri. E’ una questione di dignità e di rispetto, che non possiamo rinviare oltre.
Nel frattempo, Assessore, pure le promesse più semplici vanno mantenute. La qualità della vita degli ospiti di Vespolate è fatta anche da piccoli interventi, che i genitori mi hanno evidenziato:
1. Il trasporto: c’è un solo mezzo abilitato per tre posti. Lo intuisce anche Lei che ne serve un altro;
2. Il personale di assistenza è carente e, di certo, non sufficiente per la gravità delle disabilità. In particolare l’assistenza notturna e la fisioterapia;
