.. and there's a football
have been recently published some very interesting books with football as an object. Not to mention the sickly sweetened and biographies of well-known samples or the celebrations of teams very well known to all, but in texts that look at the world from a different point of the ball, disenchanted, who enjoy questo sport, nonostante tutto, e che prova ad offrire ancora oggi delle pagine vive e dei ricordi indelebili, quel "calcio che non c’è più" come lo definisce Ferdinando.
Citiamo alcuni titoli letti di recente:
"Le reti di Wembley. Viaggio nostalgico nella Londra del calcio" di Roberto Gotta (Libri di Sport Edizioni), un testo imperdibile per tutti gli amanti del calcio, quello inglese in particolare. Una sorta di giusto completamento a "Febbre a 90°" scritto da Nick Hornby e recensito su queste pagine appena pubblicato, a tempo di record, credo nel 1997 o 98. Questa volta è un tifoso italiano, malato di calcio inglese (ne conosco diversi!) che ci consegna una passeggiata per gli stadi di Londra, alla ricerca di aneddoti, ricordi, piccole storie, sensazioni, il tutto in rigoroso disordine, come se si fosse a tavola con amici appassionati di calcio inglese e sorgessero in continuazione curiosità e domande senza regola e senza criterio.
Da Wembley e le sue reti accoglienti ad Underhill, dalle maglie del West Ham al Subbuteo, da Willie Young ad un passato che nel ricordo viene visto sempre migliore e più romantico di quanto non fosse, ma che ha il merito di essere, perlomeno, lontano dall'apparente caos e dalla mercificazione di oggi.
"Il terzo incomodo" dell’ex calciatore Ferruccio Mazzola, fratello del celeberrimo Sandrino: ricordi familiari scomodi e poco lusinghieri soprattutto nei confronti del mitico father and a ruthless analysis of an environment in which doping and associated parts cast heavy shadows over periods even further away from us, as the '60s. A text which supports the claims made by Carlo Petrini with its most dated "of the god in the mud ball" (Edizioni Kaos) and in subsequent chapters published in recent years.
Well, this is the kind of books on football that all fans of football as we love to read and feel to advise. But it is time to pass the word to Ferdinand!
A book that reconciles with the football.
A phrase perhaps abused, but that fits perfectly with "The English coat" (Limina Press, 2005), the book that tells Andrea Bacci le vicende calcistiche e non di Lamberto Boranga. Anzi, del dottor Lamberto Boranga, uno dei primissimi calciatori che sia giunto alla laurea e che esercita attualmente il mestiere di medico a Perugia.
Specializzato in medicina dello sport, Boranga è da sempre un profondo innamorato del calcio, oltre che essere stato calciatore professionista per tanti anni. Perugia, Fiorentina, Reggiana, Varese, Parma, Cesena sono state alcune delle sue squadre. Ma la passione genuina per lo sport lo ha portato, per esempio, a tornare in campo con il Foligno a 40 anni passati vincendo il campionato di serie D. Non contento ha continuato a giocare sino a 50 anni e oltre in varie squadre dilettanti umbre: Mugnano, Bastardo, Bettona, Tavernelle, sono nomi di paesini che non dicono nulla ai più, ma che per me che ho giocato quattro anni in quelle contrade e in quel calcio durante la mia permanenza perugina, identificano luoghi e personaggi autentici di un "mondo" calcistico che non c’è più nemmeno fra i dilettanti. Pensare che Boranga, ormai affermato medico ed ex calciatore professionista di fama, a più di 50 anni abbia accettato di tornare in campo per puro divertimento e per aiutare degli amici, fa comprendere lo spirito di un uomo decisamente fuori dagli schemi, sia da calciatore che non. Una personalità poliedrica, ragazzino scapestrato, grande portiere, contestatore della prima ora ma anche studente modello laureatosi in medicina a 38 anni mentre ancora giocava nel Parma di un giovane Carlo Ancelotti with a respectable 106/110. Anche ultimamente dalle colonne de "La Stampa" del 23 ottobre scorso Boranga è partito di nuovo all’attacco del fenomeno doping, davvero il suo peggior nemico:
